A member of Federalist Majority, Abuja and Washington DC, a gathering of patriotic Nigerians across religious, political and ethnic divide, Bashorun Olufemi Adegbulugbe has responded to the question thrown to the ADC coalition by the Katsina state Governor Dikko Radda, to tell him the alternative they have for the country.
Recall that the governor had in a statement said, “_Those making noise about coalition should come out and tell us the alternatives they have. Are they going to bring back subsidies? Where are they going to get resources? This is not a time for deceiving people again_….”
Reacting to the comment, Adegbulugbe said, ” Rather than attack Governor Dikko about his castigation of the ADC coalition, I think he has presented a very valid question. And his question is “what will the coalition do differently”.
“I thank Governor Dikko for his question and this question is a wakeup call to all Coalition presidential aspirants.”What will you do differently?
“I will attempt to speak on what we hope will be different in the new government but before that, I would like to educate Governor Dikko on why we demand a new Government in 2027”.
“We, the generality of the people of Nigeria demand a change of Government for the core reason that this government has failed to meet the expectations and aspirations of the people of Nigeria and we are unable to continue like this.
“This government has led the people by way of deception with too many unfulfilled promises”.
“My take is that this government came into power unprepared without a vision and roadmap for the country.
“My dear Governor Dikko, incase you come across this article, you will agree with me that Nigeria today, is not where we should be. We have moved backward with APC, and not forward.
“The economy, insecurity, standard of living, purchasing power, corruption have all gone worse in an exponential manner.
“President Tinubu is not the mastermind or epicenter of the issues and challenges we face today as a country but he sure made matters worse due to his incompetence and unpreparedness for office.
“Our reasons for demanding a new government is also that President Tinubu has committed multiple impeachable offenses. Misappropriation or spending without approval is an impeachable offense. Airbus NAF 001 is a good example.
“We want a new government because we want to end state capture and drift to one party state. Today, Senate President Akpabio has become a private secretary to President Tinubu. We say, Mba!
“Now to the main question of “What will the new Government do differently”, my expectations are as follows;
“The anticipated new government will inherit a bad economy and worsened insecurity as well as citizens without hope but the new government must not thrive on excuses. There will be no room for excuses under the new Government.
“The new Government will continue the implementation of PMS subsidy removal as well as the floating of the Naira. Unlike the current Government, what will be different under the new government is that Nigerians will see the benefits of pms subsidy removal as well as strengthening of the value of the Naira through out of the box fiscal and monetary policies.
“I see the anticipated new government instil accountability, financial discipline as well as drastic cuts in the cost of governance. It is my hope that our new ADC led government will implement austerity measures from day one.
“Under the new government, we hope to see a restoration of the dignity of the common Nigerian.
“The focus of our new government is to increase the purchasing power of the common Nigerian.
“Our new government will not be about renewed hopelessness but restoration of genuine and actionable quantifiable hope.
“We hope to see a new Government that will unite the country and do away with any form of nepotism, cronyism, political tribalism and man-know-man syndrome.
Under the ADC led government, we hope to see an end to reckless borrowing and wasteful expenditure and we look forward to the adoption of prioritization and the principle of “ a penny saved is a penny earned”
“One thing the new government will do hopefully and insha Allah is to constitute a cabinet of competent Nigerian that will move Nigeria forward. The current cabinet of largely incompetent individuals must come to an end. We must return to the days of Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili, Prof Kalu Idika Kalu and Dr Okonjo Iweala. We need a cabinet of technocrats and not village politicians.
“In closing, i thank Governor Dikko for his question and this is a giant wake up call to ADC presidential aspirants.
“We have 2 years for preparedness and readiness. We cannot afford to change failure with failure or to reinforce failure, in the words of Baba Iyabo. What will we do differently in 2027”. Over now to PO and AA”.
