The Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Majesty, Ambassador Dr. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli CFR, has extolled senior military officers from Zaria who had recently given back to the community in form of charitable works such as provision of education and healthcare facilities.
The emir gave the commendation when the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, paid a courtesy visit to him in his palace, on Friday.
He thanked the CNS for the visit and donation of classrooms to the Nigerian Military School (NMS), Zaria.
He noted that the culture of giving back to the societies that nurtured us in our youth was highly commendable and should be sustained.
The emir wished the CNS and the NN well in their mission of securing Nigeria’s maritime domain.
Speaking earlier, the Chief of the Naval Staff stated that the visits was sequel to the commissioning ceremony of the newly built classrooms donated to the Nigerian Military School (NMS), Zaria, by the Nigerian Navy (NN).
The CNS stressed that it was imperative to pay homage and respect to His Royal Majesty, who is the father of Zaria people.
Speaking further, Vice Admiral Ikechukwu went on to reminisce about how he arrived in Zaria as a young boy in July 1982 to report at NMS, stating that the warm reception and youthful experiences he had in Zaria in subsequent years made him adopt the city as his home, hence it was not just a courtesy visit but rather a homecoming for him.
The CNS expressed joy at seeing the many beautiful infrastructural developments in the city and the peaceful ambience of the people.
He therefore thanked the Emir for providing pragmatic and exemplary leadership to the Zaria people.
On the CNS entourage were Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu, Chief of Policy and Plans, Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral Ayo Olugbode, Hydrographer of the Federation, Major General Ahmadu Bello Mohammed, Commandant, Depot Nigerian Army, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Idris Alhaji, Commandant, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Brigadier General Owoicho Ejiga, Commandant, Nigerian Military School, Zaria and other Principal Staff Officers from Defence and Services Headquarters.
