Chief Emeka Beke has emerged Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Rivers state.
Beke Emerged as winner at the just concluded state congress elections held at the Polo Club field, GRA, Port Harcourt, on Saturday.
The Secretary of the Congress committee, Mr. Matthew Omale, declared Bekee the winner of the chairmanship position.
He announced that Bekee scored 1,575 votes to defeat his rival Chizi Nyeomasila, who pulled 8 votes.
The Secretary said the chairmanship and woman leader positions were the two contested positions while other positions were uncontested.
Speaking shortly after he was declared winner, Beke thanked all the delegates for participating in the process.
He promised to bring all party faithful to work together and ensure that the party wins the 2023 elections.
“Let me thank our team from Abuja and INEC that have been here since morning.
“Let me sincerely from the bottom of my heart thank our leader the Rt Honorable Rotimi Amaechi and his team,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has enjoined the newly elected executives of the party to start preparing to face the governing party in the state.
Speaking with newsmen at the venue of the State Congress, the Minister said he expected the new leadership to immediately commence the process of turning Rivers state into an APC state.
” I expect that they should start preparing to face the governing party in Rivers State”.
“They have to go back to their various Local government areas to talk to the people.
“Let Rivers people compare their lives from 2007 when I was their governor and 2015 when I left; let them compare their lives then and what it is now and see which is better; compare the fact that there were schools; children went to school free of charge; compare the fact that there were health facilities. I expect that this is the message they will take home and tell the people to agree with us. This is a new beginning”, he said.
