The Amayanabo of Twon Brass in Bayelsa state and former military Governor of old Rivers state, King Alfred Diette Spiff, has thanked the Emir of Daura, Dr Umar Farouk Umar, for turbaning Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation, as Dan Amanar Daura, meaning ‘Trusted Son of Daura’.
King Diette-Spifft made this commendation in his speech at the Emir’s Palace in Daura, Katsina State, when he led a high power delegation from Bayelsa and Rivers states to pay a courtesy call on the emir before the turbaning ceremony.
He said by the turbaning that the people of Rivers and Bayelsa states were most delighted to associate with Katsina state.
“We are at your place because you invited us to come to witness the great honour you are about to bestow on one of our sons, the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi. He is one in whom we are very pleased. When we saw you have selected him to turban him, we decided to come with a high power delegation to celebrate him. We thank you very much. The people back home have shown their appreciation and send their gratitude to the people of Katsina state particularly Duara. The friendship that had existed through the time of Ahmadu Bello, should be maintained”.
