Crisis rocking the Abia State chapter of APC is far from over as the party now has two chairmen following the state congress which took place on Saturday.
Two factions of the party at a parallel congress produced Honourable Acho Obioma and Enyi Harbor as new chairmen.
Chairman of APC congress committee, Honourable Uzo Azubuike, described the exercise held at Umuahia Township stadium as successful and announced that Sylvanus Nwaji got one vote, Dike Nwankwo 4 votes, Chidi Nwosu 92 votes,
Ikechukwu Ukaegbu 134 votes and Acho Obioma got 298 votes, while 24 void votes was recorded.
This faction is led by Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, the immediate past chairman of the party in Abia.
National officer from APC national secretariat Abuja to monitor the congress in Abia, Aliu Ugbanne announced Acho Obioma as the chairman of APC in Abia State.
In his acceptance speech, Hon Acho Obioma thanked APC for the confidence reposed on him and promised not to disappoint them.
He said his campaign was for APC to succeed in Abia state, adding that APC is a party to work with, just as he urged other chairmanship contestants to work with him.
According to him, APC will rejoice more when they win the forces in the state and committed himself to the progress of the party, assuring that APC will take Abia State government come 2023.
Similarly, chairman of another seven man committee of the Ikechi Emenike faction of APC state Congress for Abia, Honourable Kolawole Babatunde from Ondo State said Enyi Harbor is the new chairman of the party.
He also announced Chief Chidi Abuaja as the state party secretary, Deacon Obinna Atuonwu as organising secretary, Okey Ezeala as publicity secretary among others.
They were said to have form a consensus exercise held at Chidiebere Park Ugwunchara Umuahia opposite Holy Rosary Secondary girls.
