The Bonny Deep Seaport Project is set to commence, following the inspection and approval of the project site by the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi,on Friday, September 3, 2021.
Bonny Deep Seaport, which is the brainchild of the Ministry of Transportation, was conceptualized by the leadership of APC, Bonny Chapter, led by Hon. George Fubara Tolofari, as a way of attracting more federal government’s presence to Bonny. The flagging-off of the project was done by President Muhammadu Buhari via zoom on the 9th of March, 2021.
According to a statement by the Director of Publicity, APC, Bonny chapter, Adolf Ransom Pepple, the Hon. Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was present to inspect and approve the proposed site of the project at Light House, Finima Community, Bonny.
“He was accompanied by the Leader of APC in Bonny, Hon. George Fubara Tolofari, and other stalwarts of the party including, former member of House of Representatives, Amaopusenibo Tonye Longjohn; APC Stalwart and former Permanent Secretary, Amaopusenibo Fubara Kingsley Hart; former Chairman of Bonny Local Government Council, Hon. (Barr.) Edward Ebenezer Pepple; former Chairman of Bonny LGA, Hon. Omuso Gordon Abbey”.
“Others are former Chief of Protocol to former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, Hon. Henry Halliday; former Secretary of Bonny Local Government Council, Hon. Maxwell Akwe; the CTC Chairman of APC, Bonny Chapter, Hon. Ene Longjohn; a leader of APC in Ward 5, Hon. Onimi Kabaka Brown and the secretary of APC CTC, in Bonny,Hon. Michael Bluejack.
“The Bonny Deep Seaport Project, which will cost about $500 million, is expected to engage more than 2000 workers, both skilled and unskilled”.
“Apart from the Deep Seaport Project, the APC-led federal government has established massive presence in Bonny. The Bonny-Bodo Road is smoothly nearing completion; the groundbreaking for the Train-7 project of NLNG has been done, while the Coastal Rail line from Portharcourt to Maiduguri will start or terminate at Bonny”.
“After the site inspection, the minister, on invitation, paid a courtesy visit to the immediate past member of the Federal House of Representatives, Amaopusenibo Randolph Brown”.
“The leader of APC, Bonny Chapter, Hon. George Fubara Tolofari, in his reaction expressed delight over the development, adding that this is another testament to Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi’s love and regard for Bonny, and the sincerity of APC as a responsible political party to fulfill all her promises”.
