The chairman of Bayelsa state chapter of the African Democratic Congress(ADC), Prof. Theodore Allison has advised the Bayelsa state Governor, Douye Diri to address his own flaws before criticizing the faults of others.
The ADC chairman gave the advice while reacting to a comment against High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo and the outcome of the Ijaw National Congress(INC), credited to the state Governor, recently.
The ADC chairman lamented that the sentiments expressed by the governor was capable of inciting division among Ijaw people.
“Why this nonsense sentiment against Tompolo because of INC election. What has Governor Diri himself done to elevate the status of INC that he wants to control INC institution? Practically Nothing! He is now using his “Belle Kingdom” media boys to rain insult on Tompolo causing bigotry division of the Ijaw nation. No Ijaw tribe is bigger than another”, he said.
Continuing he said, “Tomopo provided those buses to advance the course of INC, the custodian of the Ijaw struggle, yet you are insulting him with bigotry language; dividing the Ijaw nation on the geographical fringes of Warri and Bayelsa.
“Tell me what has the stingy and self acclaimed prosperity cum saint seeking “BAYELSA IJAW” governor done for the same INC?.
“This regressive Governor who could not even buy commuters buses to alleviate the plight of his less than 3m population in this fuel hardship like other governors, is the man some youths are wasting their energy supporting on social media and Insulting selfless leaders on his behalf. ‘Na wa’ for our mentality.
“Before his boys begin to insult people who are using their private resources to advance the course of the Ijaw man, they should look at their self-centered governor who commissioned non functional projects like a yahoo boy.
” Just take a look at his FAAC inflows for less than a year: from January to August 2025, Bayelsa received roughly ₦306.88 billion, whereas Governor Sylva and Governor Dickson yearly gross allocations typically ranged from ₦90 billion to ₦110 billion. (DMO record) Yet you are applauding him for using almost 8yrs to construct few bridges that the maleficent Wike used few months to construct. Where is Bayelsa monies going?
“A Governor, whom with the abundance of public fund (tax payers monies), could not raise the status of the apex Ijaw association, that defends the common Ijaw patrimony should consider his government and himself worthless to the struggle of Ijaw nationhood They should hide their heads in shame, seeing a private Ijaw man using his private funds to advance Ijaw struggle. What a shameless Governor”, he lamented.
