Amidst Governor Siminialayi Fubara’s statement that Rivers people are very happy with his administration, a Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) stakeholder(names withheld) has said Nkoro people are not happy with the government, pointing a serious case of marginalisation.
The stakeholder who stated this while reacting to the Governor’s statement in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt, alleged that four health facilities meant for Opobo/Nkoro local government area had been hijacked by Opobo communities, where the governor hail from.
”The government is planning to revitalise health facilities in the state but Nkoro is not listed among the 4 communities where this will be done in Opobo/Nkoro LGA. The four communities on the list are Queenstown ( MPHC Queenstown), Kalaibiama 1( PHC Kalaibiama), kalaibiama 2 ( HP Epellena), Jaja( MPHC Opobo), all in Opobo”, he said.
The party stalwart disclosed that Nkoro people did not benefit from the disbursement of the Rivers State Government/Bank of Industry (BOI) Limited N4billion marching fund loan scheme for nano, small and medium-scale businesses in the State.
He recalled that Governor Fubara as political leader of Opobo/Nkoro LGA in former Governor Nyesom Wike’s government allegedly did everything within his power to ensure Nkoro man or woman was never recognised with appointment or position and even projects to be sited in Nkoro communities.
He noted that it was just recently that one Nkoro man was appointed as Chairman of Rivers state Waste Management Agency(RIWAMA) while all the juicy appointments were given to indigenes of Opobo community, the governor’s hometown.
It would be recalled that Governor Fubara while inaugurating the Rivers State Fire Service Headquarters Station, located by Isaac Boro Park Flyover, in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area on Tuesday, said, Rivers people are very happy with the consistent delivery of infrastructure projects that address the critical problems experienced by the people in the larger society, emphasising that he believed strongly that even if some persons are indulged in clandestine activities, and determined to discredit his administration, Rivers people are happy, undisputably so.
He explained, “We are not interested whether those people who are commissioned to undermine us are unhappy, that is not our business. Our business is about Rivers State and Rivers people”.
