Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation, has expressed dismay at Senator Magnus Abe’s faction over their volte face in the last State Congress of All Progressives Congress(APC) held at the Polo Club field, GRA, Port Harcourt.
Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Minister said that the faction had accused APC in the state of not following internal democracy, which caused the party not to be in the ballot in the 2019 elections in the state, as a result of court order.
Rt. Hon. Amaechi said the problem of Abe’s faction is that it lacked the clout to win elections and was trying to find a cheap way to climb to power.
“They used the court to stop us from having a governorship candidate since 2019. Now, we are following the process. If you remember in 2019, this was the reason for which we didn’t hold the congress. The same people who went to court to stop us from holding congress are saying let us share, share what?
“The only way to recognize if a candidate is strong or not is by voting. The same people say no, they don’t want to hold a congress but they want us to share. The same sharing we discussed before that the party goes by consensus and you say you are going to court, it is not by consensus, by voting, you want democracy. Now, you are not there for ward, LGA and state congresses. If you are that strong, present a candidate let us see”, the Minister stated.
