Barely two weeks to the 2021 State Congresses of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the Abia State Deputy Chairman of the party, Chief Ogunka Adiele John, has defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Speaking during the formal declaration at his country home at Umuelechi, Ukwa West Local Government Area, Chief John said his decision to leave the APC was due to the crisis in the party since its inception in the State, leading to two irreconcilable factions and the general atmosphere of indiscipline, adding that his returning to the PDP would make the party stronger than before not only in the Ward, Local Government Area but also in the State as a whole.
He said, “from today, every other party has disappeared from Obuzor Ward; it is now PDP all the way”.
Chief John, who said he was no longer ready to continue to receive the reward of crises in the Abia State APC, disclosed that many of his supporters would also leave the APC to join him.
Earlier, in his speech, the Ukwa West PDP Chairman, Mr. Kingsley Enyite, described Chief John as an elder statesman whose invaluable contributions would bring enormous goodwill to the party to the detriment of all opposition political parties in the State.
