Suspected militants have reportedly blown up a section of the Trans Niger Pipeline in Bodo Community in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
It was gathered that the explosion occured on Monday night near the Bodo-Bonny Road under construction.
A trending video that emerged on Tuesday morning, shows thick black smoke moving outward into the atmosphere, with a raging fire spreading fast into the mangrove.
The TNP is a federal transport line that supplies oil to the Bonny Export Terminal in Rivers State.
Unknown militants had threatened to attack oil facilities in the state, following the ongoing political crisis in Rivers.
When contacted, the police spokesperson in the state, Grace Iringe-Koko, said she would find out and get back later.
