Let us start to study and search scriptures deeply with understanding on what the, Bible teaches correctly on the anointing oil and why the anointing oil is not biblical for Christian believers in the New Testament.
If you study the New Testament carefully, you would discover that there is no mention or use of the “anointing oil” in the New Covenant. Why? It is because the shadow in the Old Covenant was replaced by the third Person Himself in Trinity, that is, the Holy Spirit (the Anointing Himself).
As a genuinely born again Christian baptized with the Holy Spirit, in your life, you have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit inside of you ( the Holy Spirit within) and the Holy Spirit upon (His infilling power), you are filled with the Holy Spirit , therefore you are anointed. The Holy Spirit is the Power of God, the anointing upon (the infilling power) that performs miracles, signs and wonders in the Name of Jesus Christ.
As mentioned earlier, you can never find in the New Testament in the Bible (KJV) where the anointing oil was mentioned! But what was mentioned is just oil.
In John 12:1-8 (KJV), Mary did not use anointing oil to anoint the feet of the Lord Jesus Christ but she used a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard because in the Old Testament she was not qualified to touch anointing oil for it was Holy and Anointing Oil was not supposed to be poured on “man’s flesh” as recommended by God.
Another scripture to look at is James 5:14 (KJV). In this Scripture church elders are told to pray over the sick and anoint them with oil (not the anointing oil) in the name of the Lord – James 5:14 (KJV) “ Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.”
Once again, that oil is not Anointing Oil ; for church elders are not even qualified and worthy to touch God’s Anointing Oil – the one He (God) instructed Moses to make in the Old Testament.
Another scripture is Mark 6:13 (KJV). The disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ anointed the sick and heal them with oil (not the anointing oil) – Mark 6:13 KJV “And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.”
For the sake of emphasis, that oil was not Anointing Oil. Someone may ask, why did the disciples not heal in the Name of Jesus? It is because the Lord Jesus Christ had not yet died, resurrected and ascended to Heaven for the Promise of the dispensation of the Holy Spirit with His Power to take place whereby the indwelling presence and infilling power of the Holy Spirit come in and upon them for them to heal in the Name of Jesus (without oil) – Luke 24:49 KJV and Acts 1:8 KJV “And, behold, I (Jesus Christ) send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high… But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
You discover in the Bible (New Testament) that after the ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ, the apostles (disciples) of Jesus Christ did not use oil to perform miracles, signs and wonders but they used the word of God in the Name of Jesus; even apostle Paul never used oil but every miracle, sign and wonder God used him to perform, he used the word in the Name of Jesus.
Next week, by the special grace of God, we shall continue the Bible study on this subject using Scriptures to clearly explain JAMES 5:14 KJV and MARK 6:13 KJV in order for every New Testament Christian believer to have a deep revelation knowledge on it.
Never you forget that every genuinely born again Christian in this dispensation of the Holy Spirit, in this New Testament era is scripturally anointed by God Himself through the Holy Spirit according to 2 Corinthians 1:21 KJV “Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God.” This Scripture (2 Corinthians 1:21 KJV) says every genuinely born again New Testament Christian believer is anointed with the Holy Spirit! Praise the Lord!! Hallelujah!!! Amen!!!
Once you are born again genuinely, you are “anointed” of the LORD GOD.
