“ANOINTING OIL” OF THE OLD TESTAMENT AND “OIL” OF THE NEW TESTAMENT
There is a difference between anointing oil of the Old Testament and Oil of the New Testament.
There is no need for the anointing oil in the New Testament because the Holy Spirit is the anointing in the New Testament: 1 John 2:27 KJV “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”
Anointing oil in the Old Testament was a shadow of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament. The anointing is the Holy Spirit Himself. The anointing oil is the shadow while the Holy Spirit is the substance (the Anointing Himself) – Hebrews 10:1 KJV “For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things (not the realities themselves)…”
The practice of the Old Testament is the shadow of the substance of the practice of the New Testament – the Old Testament is the shadow of the New Testament because the Lord Jesus Christ is the substance (body) of the New Testament – Colossians 2:17 KJV “…which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.” The phrase “things to come” in this Scripture (Colossians 2:17) means substance. They are differences between Old Testament and New Testament; between the Old Covenant and New Covenant.

God says “My people (His own children – NOT Satan’s people) are perished, destroyed for lack of knowledge – Hosea 4:6 KJV “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..” God says further that His people go into captivity (bondage), even slavery because they have no knowledge – Isaiah 5:13 KJV “Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.”
The word says it is not good for any soul to be without knowledge – Proverbs 19:2 KJV ‘Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good…”
The only way the just (believer) will be delivered is by knowledge according to the word of God in Proverbs 11:9 KJV “…. through knowledge shall the just be delivered.”
