Know why the use of ANOINTING OIL for ordination is unbiblical in the NEW TESTAMENT – 2 Corinthians 3:6A and Acts 13:1-4 KJV (part 2)
Text: 2 Corinthians 3:6A
“Who (God) also hath made us able ministers of the new testament”
Let us continue from where we stopped last week.
In the New Testament, it is revealed that the first fruit is a shadow in the Old Covenant while the Lord Jesus Christ is the substance (reality): 1 Corinthians 15:20,23 KJV “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept…But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming”.
Do know that the laws of tithing (tithes), feasts, etc, are all shadows of Jesus? Hallelujah! Even The Ten Commandments and all the laws in the Old Testament are the shadow of Jesus Christ (the substance/reality) – Matthew 5:17 KJV “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.” It is in Jesus Christ that all the laws are fulfilled! Praise!! the Lord! Hallelujah!!!
Do you know that all the godly Bible Characters in the Old Testament are shadows of our Lord Jesus Christ? Even people life’s narrated in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible like Isaac, Jacob known as Israel, Benjamin, Joseph, Judah, Jonah, Hosea, etc are all shadows of Jesus Christ.
The Bible (the word of God) from the first verse in Genesis to the last verse in Revelation, in its entirety is all about One Person (Jesus Christ) and Jesus is the word of God personified: John 5:39 KJV, John 1:14 KJV and Revelation 19:13 KJV “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me (Jesus Christ)… And the Word (Jesus Christ) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth… his name is called The Word of God.” And this is the main reason why God said He magnifies His word (Jesus Christ) than His Name – Psalms 138:2 KJV “for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.”
Now to have a better understanding in order to appreciate the finished works of our Lord Jesus Christ at the Cross of Calvary and to always thank God and give Him the deserved glory for the gift of the Holy Spirit for every true Christian believer, let us see how anointing oil was used in the Old Testament.
ANOINTING OIL IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
The books of the Law – Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers explained in detail everything you need to know about Anointing Oil in the Old Testament.
If you read and study with deep understanding, you will discover that anointing oil was made from ingredients instructed by God Himself to Moses. Let us read Exodus 30: 23 – 24 NKJV “Also take for yourself quality spices—five hundred shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much sweet-smelling cinnamon (two hundred and fifty shekels), two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling cane, five hundred shekels of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin of olive oil.”
From this scripture, divine instruction was given to Moses by God on how to make anointing oil in the Old Testament. Now, let us use our brain to think critically in line with the word of God as regards what is called anointing oil in this dispensation of the Holy Spirit under the New Testament. In this church age, in your church denomination, what is this anointing oil of yours made of and who instructed you or your General Overseer/pastor to make one?
In the Bible, the holy anointing oil was first mentioned and introduced to Israel (Jews) by God Himself.
Furthermore, in the Old Testament, God gave instructions on how to use the anointing oil and its purposes:
Anointing oil was used to anoint the tabernacle of meeting and the covenant ark (the ark of the Testimony) according to Exodus 30:26 NKJV “With it (anointing oil) you shall anoint the tabernacle of meeting and the ark of the Testimony.” You would find this in the Jewish temple.
Anointing oil was used to anoint the table and the table and all utensils, the lampstands and its utensils and the altar of incense according to Exodus 30:27 NKJV “ the table and all its utensils, the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense.” You would find this in the Jewish temple.
Anointing oil was used to anoint the altar of burnt offering with its utensils and the laver and its base according to Exodus 30:28 NKJV “the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base.” You would find this in the Jewish temple.
Anointing oil was used to anoint the priesthood, Aaron and his sons for them to minister to God as Priests according to Exodus 30:30 NKJV “And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to Me (God) as priests.”
By the special grace, we shall continue the furtherance of this subject next week.
