The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project will hold an interactive session with Niger Delta women in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
The interactive session, which is organized with the support of the Ford Foundation, is aimed at bringing women stakeholders, including women leaders, female traditional rulers, market women leaders, women groups, people living with disability, women activist in the Niger-Delta region and other oil-producing communities in Nigeria to promote the use of strategic and public interest litigation in demanding transparency and accountability in management of natural resources.
The sessions will feature discussions on the findings and recommendations of SERAP’s latest report on mobilizing natural resource communities to use strategic litigation as a tool for social justice.
It will also include capacity-enhancing sessions aimed at strengthening key stakeholders and developing a plan of action to advance women participation in promoting transparency and accountability in the management of natural resources in the Niger Delta and other oil-producing communities in Nigeria.
