The wife of the pastor in-charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Living Spring Zone in Port Harcourt, Pastor (Mrs) Nsikak Ruth Nwankwo has charged women to be humble and kind if they want to walk in the favour of God.
Pastor Nwankwo who gave the charge while delivering a sermon at the 2023 Women’s Weekend with the theme; ” Divine Favour”, organised by the Good Women of RCCG, Spring of Life Parish , Port Harcourt, on Sunday, said that humility and kindness help to release the favour of God in the life of a person .
Taking her text from 1 Samuel 2: 3-9, she stressed the need for the parish women to overcome arrogance, pride and mischief, pointing out that they stop the flow of favour.
While defining divine favour as God stepping into ones life to make a worthwhile difference, she said God favours only His own, adding that Gods blessings rests on principles and for one to enjoy the blessings, he must abide by the principles therein.
” You cannot be sowing mischief and you think you will procure favour.
”You do not have the right to boast or carry your shoulders for by strength shall no one prevail.
”It is God that has the ability to take you up from the dunghill and place you to sit with princes. He holds the pillars of the earth.
”Always seek ways to do good and avoid pride and mischief.
”If you want the favour of God, do good and be kind. Look for opportunities to do good and God’s favour will rest on you.
”You have not started living until you begin to enjoy Gods favour; for in God’s favour, there is life. (Psalm 30:5)
”Gods favour has the ability to make you secure as a mountain
”The favour of God removes from you the garment of mourning and put on you the garment of joy and gladness.
” When the favour of God is on a man, struggle seizes.
”When God favours you, the glory of God begins to sing to the ends of the earth.
” The aim of the favour of God is that the Glory of God on you will begin to sing praises to God. Your life will be a praise to God.
”Favour makes the schemes of the enemy not to prevail.(Psalm 41:11)
”Favour makes things come easily to you. (Psalm 44:2,3)
”Favour makes strangers and even your enemies to serve you. You will be fruitful at all seasons.
”The favour of God not only lifts a man but sustains the man as well. (Isaiah 60:10,11-14)
” When you diligently seek Good, you make a down payment for favour. when you look for opportunities to do good, you are attracting the favour of God. But when you seek to do mischief or evil, evil will come to you.(Proverbs 11:27). Genesis 39:6 records that Joseph was a goodly man and as such was well favoured.
”When you begin to seek the wisdom and knowledge of God in all your endeavors, you become a candidate for favour. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the beginning of favour. Fear of God isn’t just saying you love God or attending church activities, it should reflect in your actions. Hating what God hates and loving what God loves is proof that a man fears God. However, if you hate wisdom, it means you hate favour. A person that doesn’t fear God cannot be favoured by God. We have a choice to make.(Proverbs 8:34-36).
”God will never pour his favour on a proud person and anytime you exhibit pride, you have indirectly put up a fight with God, and God himself will rise up and resist you. The case of King Nebuchadnezzar and King Herod are clear examples. However, the Bible tells us that God gives more grace to the humble. Favour is obtained through humility and maintained by humility”.(James 4:6, 1st Peter 5:5,6).
”If you want to receive divine favour and allow it to remain in your life, these are things you must do”, she advised.
Speaking further, the pastor called on the congregation to embrace Christ Jesus as their lord and saviour.
” The lord is the one that is in charge.
”He has the ability to bring down somebody.
”He has the ability to look for the most humble and poorest and bring such a person up from behind and push him or her forward”, she stated.
Furthermore, she encouraged women to pray without ceasing for themselves and the country.
”No matter how bad the economy is, a praying woman will not lack what to give to her children . God is the provider not the government”, the pastor said.
