A pastor( names withheld) is reportedy on the run after a 40-year-old electrician simply identified as Saviour was electrocuted while attempting to reconnect his church’s electricity cables to a pole in the Eliowhani area of Port Harcourt in Rivers state.

Metronetworknews learnt that the incident occurred around 5:00p.m, on October 30,2025.
It was gathered that Saviour known in the community for assisting people with minor electrical jobs, was engaged by the pastor to help reconnect power to his church after being disconnected by Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution compay(PHED) officials.
It was also gathered that efforts to resuscitate the deceased was futile.
A resident in the area who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity, said, “The electrician was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead after he was electrocuted and fell from the pole. But the pastor brought him back to the church and lay his body on the altar for prayers, saying he wanted to exercise his faith. He and his church members prayed and prayed to no avail”.
Another resident, who identified himself simply as Chuwudi, narrated that the electrician just return from work and was sitting in front of his house( a walking distance from the church)when the pastor came and asked him to help reconnect their light.
“He obliged and followed him. As he climbed to fix the light, he was electrocuted and fell from the pole”, he said.
He added that the development led to the arrest of some church members and residents by police officers believed to have come from Okporo division of Rivers state command.
All attempts to reach the command’s spokes person, Grace Irengi-Koko for her comments on the incident, proved abortive.
