Rivers netizens have condemned the rising cases of shootings of residents by unknown gunmen in Port Harcourt and called on the state government and security agencies to come to their rescue.
The netizens cried for help while commenting on a facebook post by Port Harcourt based human rights activist, Enefaa Georgewill.
The post read, ”In one night (Last Tuesday), Rowland Asuru was shot and killed along Aba road, Pastor Emma Daniel Of Kingdom Takers Ministries was also shot and killed at D-line and his car found close to Craft Center . Furthermore, John Okon was shot dead at Abakaliki-Nanka in Diobu axis of Port Harcourt. Another person whose name cannot be confirmed now was also shot at D-line but he later died at the military hospital.
”Same night, one Kalada Briggs was shot and currently bedridden in the hospital.
”Atrocious killings begin again in Rivers!

Meanwhile, Human Rights Advocate, Clifford Solomon has called on Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to convene a security summit to address the escalating security situation in the state.
Mr. Solomon, who is also the Chairman of the Defence for Human Rights and Democracy, also called on the State Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Emeka, to adopt adequate security measures that would guarantee the safety of residents and businesses.
Speaking to newsmen, the spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, said that the police have started investigating the shooting and killing of John Okon as well as Emmanuel Daniel. an e-hailing cab driver.
On the shooting of Roland Asuru, a relative of a former Commissioner in Rivers State, who was shot while driving along Wopara Street, Old Aba Road, SP Iringe Koko said the matter had not been reported to the police.
