The Rivers state chapter of All Progressives Congress  (APC) has accused the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Edison Ehie and the Ikwerre LGA Council Chairman,  Samuel Nwanosike of abducting  Dr. Godswill Dike, the brother of  its legal adviser, Barr- Azubuike Dike.

Disclosing this in a statement jointly signed by the spokesman of Rivers APC 2023 Campaign Council, Barr. Sogbeyi Eli and the State Publicity Secretary, Rivers APC, Darlington Nwauju, respectively, the party said his abduction took place on thursday evening right inside the Rivers State headquarters of the National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Aba road, Port Harcourt.

It narrated that Dr Dike was invited to the commission to take delivery of the Certified True Copies(CTC) of the INEC document that APC applied for pursant to the provisions of section 74 of the Electoral Act 2022 and that ”shortly after signing for the documents, the Deputy Speaker and Council Chairman, aided by surge of  PDP mob outside the premises, swooped on him inside the INEC office and sped away with him to the state assembly residential quarters behind the INEC state headquarters”.

It noted that  contacts have been made with the Deputy Speaker who assured his caller that Dr. Dike would return safe but the materials they took from him should be forgotten.

The party in the statement called on the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to immediately go after the deputy speaker and council chairman to safeguard the life of Dr Dike and retrieve the election materials from his abductors.

It also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call the state Governor, Nyesom Wike to order.

”The party is asking that Governor Nyesom Wike and the PDP be held responsible for any breakdown of law and order in Rivers state.  We have done our bit as a law abiding party as the rest of the nation has taken notice’, the party said.
