A group under the aegis of Initiative for Transparent Strategy and Good Leadership, has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, chairmanship candidate in Emohua Local Government Area, Mr. Chidi Lloyd of attempting to coerce the Rivers State police command, particularly the C4i Strike force, popularly known as Octopus to victimise his opponents.
The President, Chizy Enyi Esq, made the accusation at a press briefing held in Port Harcourt, on Wednesday.
His words “This press briefing is centred on political victimisation and an attempt to coerce the Nigeria Police of Rivers State Police Command, particularly the C4i Strike force, popularly known as Octopus by Chidi Lloyd who claimed to be the Emolga Chairmanship candidate of APC, a party he left five years ago against Hon. Mfata ThankGod.
“Mfata ThankGod was arrested by the military men on Monday 25th day of August, 2025, and was handed over to the Nigeria Police on a land dispute between him and his friend, Kelechi Onuegbu. After meeting up the police administrative bail conditions for his release, Chidi Lloyd showed up at the police station with his intimidating character at about 10.30pm and ordered the police not to release Mfata because he had a petition against him and promised to make himself available to make his statement the following day. The said order by Chidi Lloyd without the petition before the police was obeyed by the police. Too bad.
“We are aware that the said Chidi Lloyd is known for arresting those perceived to be his political enemies indiscriminately with frivolous charges and abandoning them in the correctionary centre.
“The said Chidi Lloyd has done this against Mr. Eric Wokocha, Hon. Okah Francis Chinedu, and many others. We are aware that the said Chidi Lloyd had vowed to deal with Mfata ThankGod and others both in private and public for not supporting his political ambitions.
“According to Chidi Lloyd that Mfata ThankGod defamed his character. Hence, he will deal with him at all cost, and he will go to jail. We are tempted to ask if Chidi Lloyd is truly a lawyer. As a lawyer, Chidi Lloyd ought to know that it is better to file a civil suit and claim damages for defamation of character. If Sir Dr. Peter Odili, who is not a lawyer, could file a civil suit on defamation of character against Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, I wonder what Chidi Lloyd wanted if not to instil fear and silence his perceived political enemies.
“We want to let Chidi Lloyd know that we were all living witnesses to the political arrest and incarceration of Chief Ojukaye Flag Amachree, Bouch Nsirim, Hon Charles Anyanwu by his now political master and yet, it didn’t deter the opposition and instead, it made the opposition stronger.
“We are perturbed that Chidi Lloyd and his cohorts want to turn Rivers State to a state where opposition voice will not be heard using the police. The days of Joseph Mbu are strategically returning, and it will paint the image of the Rivers State Police Command black like the skin of Chidi Lloyd.
“We want to let the Rivers State Commissioner of Police to be aware of those who are hell-bent on damaging his reputation like the case at hand and urge him not to politicise matter.
“We are calling on Rivers people and Nigerians at large to rise up to expectations against all forms of intimidation.
When contacted for his reaction, the chairmanship candidate said, I am a very busy man. I don’t have time for animals”.
