The story of the dilapidated classrooms in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers state reported by one Miss Ogadinma Minne Uchechi on the social media appear to have triggered immediate action from council chairmen and lawmakers.

It reports that Hon. Aboiya-a Bob-Fubara, the Executive Chairman of Akuku Toru Local Government Area, conducted inspection at Abonnema Girls Secondary School, on Friday February 6, 2026.
The chairman was said to have undertaken the inspection in order to probe the school’s infrastructur as well as assess the condition of classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and other facilities to pinpoint areas ripe for renovation or upgrade.
It was learnt that the chairman engaged the teachers, students, and support staff in order for them to provide him invaluable insights into the challenges they face and how to enhance the learning environment.
It also was gathered that the Speaker of the Rivers state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Martin Chike Amaewhule visited the community secondary school Okporo in Obio Akpor LGA, where he also participated in their Inter house Sports competition.
The speaker was said to have donated millions of naira and bags of rice to the school authorities and students.
It would be recalled that Miss Uchechi had alleged that the chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area, Eugene Cheta Epelle, assaulted her after posting about the decay and unsafe learning environment of Community Secondary School Odiokwu in the LGA, on facebook.
According to her, the post was to solicit for help from well spirited persons to renovate the school, which happens to be the school in the community where she and the chairman hail from.
Uchechi said that the chairman got offended on seeing the post, accusing her of attempting to tarnish his image online.
She alleged that the chairman ordered his younger brother to beat her up in her family house in the area.
But the chairman through his Chief Press Secretary Dennis Ezeuwa Lot, refuted the allegations, describing it as false, malicious and deliberately distorted to incite public anger and damage his reputation.
