The All Progressives Grand Alliance ,APGA, gubernatorial candidate in Rivers state, Prince Ugo Beke, has honoured the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Spring of Life Parish, Eliowhani town, Port Harcourt, as a guest on the parish’s first year anniversary and worship in its new church building.
Speaking at the event, Prince Beke commended the RCCG for encouraging Christians to be active in politics.
Prince Beke who was represented by High Chief Sunnie Chukumele, the Coordinating Chairman of Ugo Beke Campaign Organization, said such decision by RCCG should be emulated by other churches.
The APGA candidate said there has been an erroneous impression that politics was immoral and Christians should not be involved in it
He further said with the current political development tilting against Christians, Christians should rise up and participate actively both in vying for positions and voting for credible candidates of their choice.
He noted that in Rivers state, there is a need for a candidate that has the fear of God, pointing out that the scripture says that when the righteous rules, the people rejoice.
Prince Beke urged Christians to take advantage of the injunction and reject candidates that lack integrity, conscience and competence.
“RCCG in its wisdom by God, not too long ago, opened a political directorate. It means that it understood that the church must take control and take back society.
” Thousands of years ago, the church controlled the world and so, today, RCCG has established a directorate of politics. This means carrying the Bible, evangelizing Christ and putting people in power.
“We are going to partner the church and faith based organizations for the advancement of Rivers state.
” We will stand with the church and the church will dedicate us to the altar of almighty God”, he stated
In a chat with our correspondent after the ceremony, the APGA candidate, advised Christians to intervene and instal God fearing candidate.
He said APGA led by himself is providing credible alternative to Rivers people to clean the augean’s stable and warned that imposition of candidates on Rivers people will spell doom, adding that to check corruption, there is a need to vote out enlongation of power in whatever guise.
Prince Beke further said that APGA will soon start door-to-door campaign to educate Rivers citizens on building a large economy for Rivers and the prosperity of her citizens.
Such, he said, must be based on dealing with insecurity, establishing industries and revamping agricultural development .
He wondered why people blessed by God are suffering abject poverty as a result of a few taking away the common patrimony.
Prince Beke said anybody who cannot convince Rivers people on how to pull a majority of the population out of poverty has not started the vision of development of Rivers state.
He called on Rivers people to vote massively for him and APGA to make the expected change for the state.
