The FCT Police Command has reacted to report of an assassination attempt on the life of Nigerian Navy officer, Lieutenant A. M. Yarima, who recently clashed with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing the claims as false and unverified.

The navy officer and the minister had engaged in a heated confrontation at a disputed land site in Gaduwa District, Abuja.
The command’s reaction was contained in a statement signed by its spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh.
The statement read, “The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to publications circulating on social media alleging an attempted assassination on Lt. Ahmed Yerima.
“The command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory.
“The public is advised to disregard this false information and desist from spreading unverified claims capable of causing unnecessary panic.
“The command urges members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police division.
Lieutenant AM Yarima was said to have been trailed by unidentified persons in two unmarked Hilux vans from the NIPCO Station off the Kubwa Motorway through to Gado Nasco Road on Sunday evening.
He was also said to have used a strategic manoeuvre to escape the purported attack.
