The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG), Pastor E.A Adeboye, has dismissed reports that he asked christians to buy guns to defend the church against attack by terrorists in the country.
Pastor Adeboye who made the clarification while speaking during the July 2022 Thanksgiving Service tagged; ‘Made For The Top’, held at Mount Carmel Parish of the RCCG, said at no time did he make such comment during the last Holy Ghost Service.
“There are one or two things I said during the Holy Ghost Service that I believe some people might want to misrepresent. I never asked Christians to go and buy guns. You don’t need guns. Sampson never bought AK47. He fought with the jaw bone of an ass. So, don’t go and buy guns. In any case, they won’t give you permission. But you don’t need permission to buy the jaw bone of a cow. And I have always wondered how do you demonstrate to children in sunday school how Sampson won a victory. I believe a very good way to illustrate this is to get a jaw bone of cow and show the children this is how to use it. We don’t want to kill anybody . We just want to make sure unwanted visitors don’t come to the church. And if police come and find jaw bones of cow in the vestry is to demonstrate to children. Half a word is enough for the wise”, he said.
Furthermore, the General Overseer charged Christians not to listen to people who generate unwarranted fear with the aim to stop them from attending church services.
“Nothing happens in this world without God. Nobody dies without God’s permission. Until your time comes, nobody can kill you. So, don’t listen to those who say don’t go to church, the enemy is planning something. Any enemy that comes near your church will meet God at the gate”,he said.
Pastor Adeboye further said he was at the Mount carmel parish to pray for the fire of God to fall upon the land of Ngeria, assuring that fire will begin to fall before the end of the month.
“Why am I on Mount Carmel on this particular sunday. Well, we need the fire of God to fall. We have reached the stage in our history as individuals, families and nation, the fire of God must fall. That is one of the reasons why I am at Mount carmel to come and cry to the Almighty God . I can assure you as the Lord’s leads, long before this month is over, fire will begin to fall. He will be answering your prayers by fire and prove to your enemy that He is a consuming fire”.
Speaking further on the main topic; ‘Made For The Top’, Pastor Adeboye identified diligence and purity as sure paths to reach the top of one’s life.
He advised Chriatins not to allow anything to affect their diligence to work, noting that God does not promote lazy people.
“You must be ready for hardwork. Isaac was blessed of God but he was not lazy. He went upward. He did not stop until he became so great that a whole nation envied him. Also, you need the spirit of God. You have to be pure because God is Pure”, he stated.
