The authorities of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education in Port-Harcourt, Rivers Stat, have urged all female students to desist from dressing indecently forthwith, whether during the day or at night.
In a statement signed by the Dean Student Affairs, Dr. Philemon Wokoma Iyagba, said, ”Failure to comply with these directives would attract disciplinary actions, noting that students caught would be referred to the University Disciplinary Committee.
”By this notice, all students are expected to adhere to existing University dress code policy and maintain a level of decency and respect for themselves and others”, it stated.
The statement read; ”It has come to our attention that some female students have been dressing indecently within the campus premises distorting our efforts in striving to maintain a conductive and respectful learning environment.
”This behaviour is unacceptable and contradicts our institution’s values and standards.
”As a reminder, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education) Rumuolumeni Port-Harcourt Rivers State Nigeria dress code policy explicitly prohibits indecent dressing including but not limited to the following: revealing or provocative clothing, clothing that exposes excessive skin or body parts, short gowns, skirts and bum-shorts, rough/rugged jeans trousers and skirts, not wearing brassieres”
