Hoodlums have reportedly attacked a couple on their way to the airport in Owerri, killing two policemen.
Metronetworknews gathered the two policemen were escorting them to the airport.
The incident happened on Monday, at Okija, in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state.
The husband was said to have been hacked by the hoodlums, while the driver, who was injured, was rushed to a hospital.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, said he had yet to receive the information.
But a senior police officer, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed the incident.
The officer explained that the couple were dropped off by the hoodlums at Ukpor, Nnewi South LGA of the state, at midnight on Monday.
A family member of the couple, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said they were kidnapped at Okija on their way to the airport in Owerri.
The source said two of the policemen with the couple were killed by the gunmen.
“They released them around 11pm. One of their relations received a call from one of the victims to send the driver to come and pick them up at Ukpor, where they dropped them off”, he further said.
