Rivers state Governor Nyesome Wike appears to have confirmed the fear of many that the chioce of Mr. Siminalaye Fubara is his third term plan.
Speaking when his political associates and Rivers elders led by the chairman, Rivers Elders Council, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba visited his private residence in Rumueprikom to felicitate with him on his birthday on Tuesday, Wike said although he is not running election, but he is still running an election.
“ I am not running election, but I’m running an election. My name is not in the ballot, but I’m running an election. You’ll hear what is going to happen. Everybody don’t panic. It is something God has given to us in our (hand) palm”, Wike said.
Pundits interpreted this statement to mean that Wike is in the race.
They wondered why the choice of Fubara, considering his young age and personal relationship with Wike among other henchmen who had ambition to become the governor.
They observed that Fubara had failed to prove that he was a serious candidate by his inability to make promises and talk independently.
They said that even at occasions presided by the governor, Fubara had never been given opportunity to address Rivers people so they could assess him.
“Everything is about Wike”, an anonymous source said.
He said that was why people believe it is Wike’s third term.
“By making him to be dependent on him, he cannot be assertive”, the source concluded.
Rivers people had accused the governor of pursuing third time agenda through Siminalaye Fubara.
