The International Federation of Women Lawyers FIDA, Rivers State branch, has berated the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly releasing on daily basis a bishop in detention who was accused of defiling a 16-vear-old girl.
Speaking to news hounds in Port Harcourt, FIDA Publicity Secretary, Sophia Afolayan, disclosed that they received a complaints from the victim on 17 June, 2022, on how she has been constantly sexually abused by the suspect, one Bishop Felix Okpara Duruebube.of Mercy House International Church, Eliozu.
Afolayan said that on 18 June, 2022, the suspect was arrested and detained by officers of Rumuodumaya Police Division.
She further said FIDA got an information that the suspect was released every night to go home and return the next morning, pointing out that he is yet to return to the station after being allegedly released by an officer named Rebecca on Tuesday, 21 June.
She called on the Command to produce the Bishop immediately.
