A mob has reportedly killed a member of a vigilante group in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The deceased whose identity could not be ascertained was said to have been killed over alleged blasphemy against Islam.

Metronetworknews gathered that the incident occurred on Saturday at the Timber shed market, Federal Housing Estate, Lugbe Abuja.

It learnt that trouble began when members of the vigilante group who were guarding the timber market, moved to arrest some residents wandering around the market and in course of doing so, one of the vigilante members allegedly made a blasphemous comment when the residents were pleading with them “in the name of Allah.”

It further learnt that the alleged comment irked the mob who descended on him, beat him up and set him ablaze.

The FCT Police Public Rations Officer, Josephine Adeh confirmed the incident.
