Ex- governor of Rivers state and now minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike yesterday lamented that he has been abandoned like an orphan by Bishops in the state.
The former governor who came up with this while speaking at a public function in Port Harcourt, regretted that Bishop of the Diocese of Niger Delta, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Oko-Jaja, one of the bishops who used to sing his praises to high heaven when he was the governor of the oil-rich state has stopped regarding him even as the FCT minister.
”I was watching the preaching of Bishop Oko Jaja yesterday. I watched the prayers he prayed.
”As a Minister of FCT, I came to the church, not even the courtesy of recognising the presence of the minister of FCT came in and I laughed.
”When I was governor here, you were all praising me heaven and earth, i did this, i did that. All fake”, Wike lamented.
Recall that the former governor was among dignitaries who attended the opening of 2023/2024 legal year and re-dedication church service which held at St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Hospital Road in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
Speaking at the occasion, the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara urged Rivers people to put behind them the discomfort created by the political tension experienced days ago and join efforts with his administration to ensure continuous peace and development of the State.
In his sermon, captioned “Fear Not”, Bishop of the Diocese of Niger Delta, Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Oko-Jaja said the spirit of fear needs to be overcome by firm trust in God and urged the judicial officers to uphold the truth fearlessly in the discharge of their duties.
