The Chairman of the Andoni Area Traditional Rulers Council and Okaan-Ama Ngo of Ngo Land, His Majesty King J. W. Okuruket Nnabiget XIV, JP has appealed to the warring cult groups in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State to embrace peace.
King Okuruket Nnabiget stated this while addressing the 1st Quarterly meeting of the Andoni Area Council of Traditional Rulers held at Obolo Hall, Ngo Town Headquarters of Andoni LGA.
The Chairman of the Andoni Royal fathers in his address stated “Let it be placed on record that the Andoni Local Government Area Council of Traditional Rulers under my watch will not rest on its oars to work in synergy with the Local Government Chairman and his cabinet to put a stop to the senseless cult wars in Andoni”.
He continued “I will use this medium to sound a note of warning to all those whose stock-in-trade is to perpetrate crimes in the land under the guise of cult activities/wars and appeal to them to sheath their sword and stop further destruction of lives and properties. If they fail to refrain from their sacrilegious acts, Ijong Obolo (land of Andoni) would rise and fight for itself. Enough is enough!.
King Nnabiget also used the medium to commend the Chairman of Andoni LGA, Hon. Barr. Erastus C. Awortu for his efforts in addressing the cult wars that has led natives of Isiokwan District of Andoni to flee their communities.
According to him, Barr. Erastus Awortu has demonstrated that he has the people of Andoni at heart by taking the right step to visit the displaced people of Isiokwan District at Kaa and provided them with palliatives, few days after he was sworn in. This is a further expression of his kind heartedness.
On his part, Executive Chairman of Andoni LGA, Hon Erastus Awortu Esq while addressing the Royal fathers sought their support in the area of peace and security across their communities emphasizing on the need to synergize with the Local Government authority to ensure that miscreants no longer trouble their domains.
The Anolga Boss also expressed his readiness to partner with the monarchs to build a befitting Secretariat for the Traditional Rulers in Ngo Town and requested that land be provided for the building of the complex that will befit the Royal fathers.
Awortu further maintained that the Council under his leadership will stop at nothing in dealing with any cultist who fail to accept the peace initiatives spearheaded by the Traditional Rulers Committee on Security, stressing his support for the committee.
