A cult group, KKK confraternity , has written a letter to the people of Ifa Ikot Akpan village, Etoi Clan, in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, threatening to unleash mayhem over alleged constant harassment of their members.

In a letter pasted on the doorpost of the Council hall, the cultists wrote, “We, the members of the KKK cult confraternity, write to warn the Ifa Ikot Akpan Village Council Members that we will not fold our hands and see the constant harassment of our members with the use of security agencies.

“We want to state categorically that if anything happens to any of our members in this recent time, the following people will not go scot free for giving information about our members to security agencies in the state.

“The Youth Chairman, Ifa Ikot Akpan Village Council, Mr. Abasiama Etim Eyo, Mr. Itoro Offiong Essien, Mr. Itoro Etim Ben, the Chairman, Ifa Ikot Akpan Village Council, Mr. Edidiong Effiong Ubit, the Secretary Ifa Ikot Akpan Village Council, Mr. Victor Edet Asuquo.

“Get it at the back of your mind that the leader of the KKK confraternity is from Ifa, and we will not allow anything to happen to any of our members in Ifa. A word is enough for the wise.”

However, the village head, Eteidung Ebong, in a statement made available to our correspondent in Uyo on Saturday, appealed to the commissioner of the state to the governor Umo Eno and the police commissioner to take decisive action to forestall an impending crisis.

He called on the police commissioner to increase police patrols and investigations into cult related matters in the area.

“We appeal to the Akwa Ibom State government and the commissioner of police to save us from the threats of the cultists,” the village head cries out.

Our correspondent reports that during an emergency meeting and press conference, the village head had identified two individuals in the community as being responsible for the recent disturbances in the area.  “We cannot sit back and watch our peace being destroyed. We have notified the authorities because this is not just a scare tactic—it’s a real danger, “Ebong said.
