The Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor has frowned at any activity linking to illegal oil bunkering and warned that any person who is considering engaging in illegal oil bunkering should desist from the idea as anyone found wanting will get a significant punishment.
He made this statement in the Nigerian Airforce Base Port Harcourt, Rivers State, during his operational visit to troops of Joint Task Force South-South Operation Delta Safe, on Friday.
He urged the troops to protect the oil and gas industries and installations within the South-South geopolitical zone with the best of their abilities.
He encouraged them ,to be hard working as there are already set out modalities to improve troops welfare in the area of allowances, accommodation, as well as improvement in the provision of more arms and ammunition and other equipment for effective discharge of duties.
Gen Irabor commended the troops who have given in their best to protect the National Asset, especially in the oil and gas sector, which happens to be the primary source of national revenue, adding that the resources accruable from this sector are used to pay salaries.
Present in the CDS entourage were; the Chief of Defense Intelligence Maj Gen SA Adebayo, the Chief of Defense Training and Operations Maj Gen MA Yekini and other senior Officers.
Also present during the visit were the Commander Operation Delta Safe Rear Admiral A Hassan, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army/Land Component Commander OPDS Maj Gen OO Oluyede, the Commander Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder Rear Admiral A Ahmed, the Commander 115 Special Operations Group Gp Capt AA Opaleye, Brigade Commanders, Sector Commander of Operation Delta Safe, Senior Officers and troops of Joint Task Force South-South Operation Delta Safe.
