A Port Harcourt based businessman, Mr. Solomon Chidi has condemned the politics of rancour in Rivers state, stating that the governorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prince Ugo Beke is the only politician that is not involved in that dastard politics.
Speaking with newsmen on the sideline of the 230th Convention of Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organization Worldwide, held in Port Harcourt, the businessman said although Prince Beke is an old politician, he is a type that has not meddled himself in controversy and rancour.
” Prince Ugo Beke is not a new name in electoral contest within Rivers state. There is no rancour connected with his name in the past and even now there is none.
” This is the kind of candidate Rivers people should be looking for to adopt. I am concerned about the manner in which we have played politics in Rivers state. It is characterized by too much rancour. The state needs somebody that is free of rancour”, he opined.
Furthermore, Chidi chided Rivers politics, which is full of violence instead of ideas
” Our political conversation is full of violence, insults not ideas”, he lamented.
He further said the type of governor that the state needs is one that is diplomatic in words not abusive or employs verbal violence.
He added that such attitude hinders investment to the state and over heat the polity, stating that Prince Beke has the pedigree that exonerated him from those class of politicians.
” We need somebody who understands how to govern with civility of language and diplomatic use of conversation so that investors can start returning to the state”.
He called on well meaning and enlightened Rivers people to support the APGA candidate to reposition the state.
