The Benue state government has welcomed the withdrawal of All Progressives Congress(APC) from the state’s stakeholders meeting.
The government in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Terver Akase, said the need to welcome the APC’s intended withdrawal was because of the jaundiced reason that it was withdrawing because state public enterprises were being privatised.
The statement stated that the Benue state government has no regret if APC is to withdraw from the stakeholders meeting because they neither contribute good ideas nor encourage the government.
It said Benue state was one of the few states keeping moribund companies in an era when the private sector is driving Industrialisation across the country.
“Benue is one of the very few states still keeping moribund companies in an era when the private sector is driving industrialization across the country and the rest of the world. Only recently, Cross River State put up over 40 state-owned industries for privatization. That’s an APC controlled state”, it stated.
He further said the absence of the party would neither affect the meetings not stop deliberations and implementation of resolutions past at the forum.
The statement stated that rather than commend the governor for his magnanimous disposition to involve the party in decision making of the state, they go about hurling insults to his person and office.
It also stated that if APC so much cared about Benue people, why had they not made effort to alleviate the sufferings of over one million people displaced in the state as a result of herdsmen attacks.
