No fewer than four persons have been reportedly killed in a reprisal attack on four villages in Zango-Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Saturday by gunmen. The four villages attacked by the gunmen are Ungwan Gaiya, Ungwan Gimba, Ungwan Makama and Apimbatt. In a statement by the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, said security operatives are on top of the situation as more troops are deployed in flashpoints. Scores of villagers were injured and receiving medical attention in hospitals while several houses were razed". According to the commissioner, the military and the police informed the government of the latest attacks, which it claimed was as a result of the counter-attacks and killing of seven herders at Ungwan Idi and Kasheku of Kauru Local Government Area. He said that troops, following clearance operations at Ungwan Gaiya, Ungwan Gimba and Ungwan Makama of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, three more corpses were recovered, two of which were identified, while another could not be identified. Aruwan listed the names of those killed to include, Noel Markus (35), Titus Thomas (32), and an unidentified herder, adding also that two mobile phones were recovered. The commissioner stated that the military also reported that one citizen was killed in Apimbu village of the same local government, saying, “The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Kambai Yohanna.” He added that the corpses and other valuables were handed over to the police for further investigation and analysis. “The military confirmed that two houses were burnt in the Apimbu attack.
