A Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has stated that the move of using INEC to destabilize the ADC was politics taken too far.

Chief Eze stated this in a statement in reaction to the delisting of the names of Senator David Mark, and Rauf Aregbesola, as National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC respectively, from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s portal, on Friday.

He said even with an assemblage of 33 Governors in the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Bola Tinubu, has developed cold feet and was afraid of his own shadow as the 2027 presidential election gathers momentum.

Eze, erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), implored Nigerians to ask President Tinubu, why he was afraid of contesting the 2027 presidential election alongside a viable opposition political party like ADC.

The fiery media czar expressed regret that rather than engrave his name in golden letters on the sands of time, President Tinubu has only succeeded in emerging as the Face of Undemocratic Despots in Africa.

“It beats one’s imagination that a person who prides himself as a political strategist and democrat, will stoop so low to aim at decimating opposition political parties ahead the 2027 presidential election.

“Even with 33 serving Governors in the ruling APC, President Tinubu is very much afraid of competitive poll in 2027. He is a total failure, and his fear of outcome of the 2027 election, has become too glaring to Nigerians to see; that’s the reason he is being despotic and dictatorial.

“Without mincing words, Tinubu is paranoid over the 2027 presidential election, and that’s the root cause of all these undemocratic, unconstitutional and illegal acts being perpetrated by government agencies and commissions in his administration, Eze stated.

The ADC stalwart alleged that Tinubu and his hangers-on, had hoodwinked the Judiciary, security agencies etc into playing their biddings before now and it’s INEC’s turn now.

He added that after allegedly using the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike to destabilize and decimate the PDP, a party that struggled to oust the military from power in 1998, they are now considering this latest onslaught on ADC.

“It can’t work”, he vowed.

Eze urged Nigerians not to despair, but to have hope in God and unite to fight these agents of undemocratic forces.

“The PDP is down and out as far as the 2027 presidential election is concerned; Tinubu is using Minister Wike to pin the party down. Their target and game plan is sole presidential candidate, across all party lines in 2027.

“Apart from the political star-studded ADC, Tinubu and the APC have snuffed life out of opposition political parties, Eze said.

However, he assured Nigerians
that the latest plot to use Nafiu Bala, who resigned from ADC to truncate the progress of the party will surely collapse like a pack of cards.

“This latest illegal move of using INEC to destabilize the ADC is politics taken too far.

“After impoverishing Nigerians and subjecting citizens to unexplainable state of untold hardship, with unending spate of insecurity, bloodletting, kidnapping etc, Tinubu knows that Nigerians are ever ready to vote him out for lack of vision, and leadership acumen.

“Yes, with a gang of demented sycophants, corrupt, evil men and political liliputs surrounding him, who failed woefully in helping him to provide purposeful and people oriented leadership, Tinubu knows that his time is up.

“But, like the last kick of a dieing horse, the clueless man has resorted to brazenly and undemocratically dictating the tones for the Judiciary, the Military, the NASS, and INEC in a bid to survive the staggering reality ahead.

“At this juncture, I urge our great party, ADC, to go ahead with it’s planned political activities, Eze posited, saying “the Supreme Court has made a pronouncement stopping INEC from interfering into the affairs of political parties.

“Let’s ignore INEC, and adhere to our timetable of congresses. INEC has lost its independence, and is now an extension of APC, all aiming to ensure that our nascent democracy is undermined”, he said.

Eze recalled that in a landmark judgement delivered on March 21, 2025, the Supreme Court in the matter of Senator Samuel Anyanwu v. Sunday Udey-Okoye & Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), decisively held that internal political party affairs, including leadership disputes, are not justiciable in court.

He stated that Justice Jamilu Tukur, in the lead judgment, had stressed that courts lack jurisdiction to interfere in matters purely internal to political parties.

According to Chief Eze, the implications of the apex court’s judgment for political parties are that headship feuds must be resolved internally; and Courts cannot be used as battle fields for factional altercations.

Similarly, Eze submitted that the Supreme Court’s pronouncement implies that INEC must respect party autonomy, limit its role to monitoring and compliance with electoral laws, arguing that it was not for INEC to adjudicate, interfere or interpret a judgement of the Court of Appeal in respect of the matter filed by Nafiu Bala, who resigned from the ADC to pave way for a coalition.

Eze, therefore appealed to the ADC to see itself as the last hope to rescue Nigeria from the hands of undemocratic forces, who are hellbent on ruining the country’s fledgling democracy.

“ADC must do whatever that is within it’s powers to stop Tinubu from succeeding in his evil plots come 2027, the party chieftain said.
