Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has challenged the former Governor of Rivers state and now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike to test his popularity by taking a walk round the streets of Port Harcourt, for Nigerians to see how he is viewed by Rivers people.

In a statement made available to the media, Chief Eze opined that Wike would never enjoy general acceptability like former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, if he embarks on such an outing.

“The popularity and general acceptability enjoyed by  Amaechi, was reconfirmed July 23, 2025 during a visit to Port Harcourt where the former Governor took a walk round some major streets of Port Harcourt, alongside a crowd of loyalists drawn from different parts of the state.

“Despite leaving office as Governor over a decade ago, Amaechi’s records and exemplary legacies while in office, have continued to earn him a reputation of love and trust amongst Rivers people who came out in their numbers at different locations to cheer the man whose transformative initiatives yielded a multi-sectorial achievements, transformed their lives and earned the state a pride of place in the comity of states in the country.

“The mammoth crowd of loyalists, associates and patriotic citizens of the state, was a display of raw love by the people, to a man who made the state and the populace proud during his days as Governor, re-confirming his credibility in the streets and amongst the ordinary people of the state, an attribute that is lacking in the FCT Minister, who misused public funds, expended them on frivolities and drove the people into poverty while he held sway as Governor.

“Amaechi overwhelmed by the outpouring support revealed that the coalition leaders will fully support whoever emerged as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

“The Street Credibility displayed by the former Minister during his triumphant entry into Rivers State is another bold statement that clearly sets the tone towards a total recovery of the state from the gang of treasury looters who convert the common patrimony to personal heritage.

” if Nyesom Wike embarks upon such an outing, the result may be bloody, as the people of the state whom he impoverished to curry blind loyalty, would mount the streets and take up arms against him regardless the number of armed security guards in his company.

“The people of the state have severally expressed their resentment about the dirtiness of the character of the FCT Minister, whose greed has turned the state and her people into mocking stocks for the rest of the country, under the rudderless Tinubu regime.

“He should embark upon such an outing to check about his health and see the results of his below-average performance as Governor viz the destruction of programs that would have made Rivers State one of the most developed States in Africa.

“As Governor, Wike destroyed the Agricultural program set up by Amaechi that would boost food sufficiency and feed Nigerians at this period of hopelessness occasioned by the Tinubu administration.

“I encourage the FCT Minister to embark upon such an outing and see the repercussions of cancelling the scholarship scheme set up by Amaechi to make Rivers State one of the educational advanced States in Nigeria.

“Nyesom Wike should test his popularity for Nigerians to see how he is viewed by the people of Rivers State and demonstrate that APC have lost Rivers State come 2027”.

Eze hinted that 2027 is the time for the people of Rivers State to reclaim their State from the hands of undemocratic forces that have ruined the good reputation of the state and ran her aground for personal gains.
