Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), on Monday, berated the Management of the University of Abuja, for inviting the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to speak at the Faculty of Social Science Personality Lecture Series.
Eze noted that in as much as it was the exclusive preserve of the University to invite any eminent Nigerian to deliver a lecture in the institution, however, he argued that such invitation should entail proper scrutiny of the individual’s public records and character.
The politician cum media mogul submitted that Nigeria’s educational system was such a sensitive sector, that is dwindling and therefore doesn’t need “venal, depraved and morally bankrupt character” like Minister Wike to infiltrate its ranks for personal aggrandizement.
“Inviting a duplicitous, manipulative and deceitful character like Wike to speak to university students is height of misplaced priority by the University of Abuja Management.
“In saner climes, the University is bound to tender a public apology to Nigerians for that costly, embarrassing and misguided presentation by a man who feels he is now the Alpha and Omega of Nigeria.
“For instance, our country’s Judiciary has been largely captured and decimated by Wike through promoting systemic corruption in the name of providing accomodations and buying of cars for some Judges in the country. Now, we must rise up and redirect Wike’s eyes on the country’s educational sector, lest he adulterates the system, Eze warned.
The APC chieftain was reacting to what he described as height of misplaced priority by the University of Abuja for inviting the FCT Minister to deliver a lecture in the institution without minding Wike’s “demented” nature and habit of insulting any perceived political foe.
In a statement on Monday, Eze posited that rather than respect the academic environment by trying to, at least show that he is a glorified ‘charge and bail lawyer’, Wike ended up displaying mediocrity, hatred and an infectious obsession for his former boss and erstwhile Minister of Transportation, Barr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
“What do you make out of a situation whereby Wike was invited by a University to talk, and he ended up blackmailing, backbiting, and pouring invectives on Amaechi, a man that made him whatever he thinks he is today?
“Honestly, Wike wasn’t like this before. But when you possess massive stolen public funds and alcohol habits, then you can become despotic, loquacious, proud and abusive at any given time.
“Nigeria education system is a sacred sector that doesn’t need serial dictators, devious and ingrates to meddle into all in the name of gutter politics.
“If Wike had descended on Amaechi in his usual beer parlour attacks, I wouldn’t have even been moved, but talking about a former governor who made you, in a University environment is shameful, disgusting, degrading and remained condemnable, Eze insisted.
According to him, the FCT Minister is a “disgrace to league of first families.
“Wike, what did Amaechi do to you that makes you to hate him with passion. Nothing lasts forever.
“Enter your room, stand in front of a mirror, you will see what wickedness, backbiting, ingratitude and alcohol have done to you; yet you cannot have a rethink and amend your evil ways.
“By deviating from the topic given to him to discuss during the invitation by the Abuja University, to talk about Amaechi and his son showed that Wike is totally empty and bereft of moral rectitude to address Nigerian university students.
“By inviting such a character to lecture our future leaders, shows how the University Management prioritizes mediocrity over merit.
“The University has ridiculed the education sector by using an event meant to give insight and proffer solutions to myraid of challenges pervading our society of which Wike is a chief architect going by his acceptance of his inglorious feats during the 2023 general election, Eze stated.
He expressed shock and wondered what exactly what the University intended to achieve by such an invitation.
“Must you use our academic aimed at excellence to pave way for financial inducement?
He said Wike will never cease to be who is, as he left the topic he was asked to speak on to talk about Amaechi, who if not for him he will never have grown politically.
“Is that what the University Management invited him to speak upon, if not to showcase his ignorance and bitter politics.
“Is it a crime that Rt. Hon. Barr Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi attended a protest at the National Assembly with his son, who is a medical doctor.
“When has it become a crime for a family to decide to offer medical assistance to injured protesters during a protest?
“Why Amaechi is on the street with his son, in solidarity for protesters, something uncommon for Nigerian politicians, Wike forgot he has been traversing the globe with his own children, stashing billions of stolen Naira in foreign accounts, Eze said.
He therefore demanded an apology from the Management of University of Abuja to Nigerians for that national disgrace.
