The turbaning of the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, appears to have unsettled his political detractors.
The turbaning, which was earlier postponed was said to have been celebrated by them on the social media and other platforms even as they described the event as ‘contrived turbaning’.
However, the turbaning had been rescheduled.
Metronetworknews gathered that the rescheduling has been the cause of unease among the detractors.
A press release issued on Friday and signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the ministry, Mr Eric Ojiekwe, disclosed that the turbaning of the minister as Dan Amanar Daura, meaning ‘Trusted Son of Daura’ will now hold on February 5.
According to the release, the honour is in recognition of Amaechi’s contributions to the socio-economic development of the country.
It said the minister will be honoured, especially for his effort in bringing to life the rail sector that has been moribund for over three decades.
It also said the turbaning ceremony would be performed by the Emir of Daura, Dr Umar Farouk Umar, at the Emir’s Palace in Daura, Katsina State, by 11:00 am.
”The highlight of the occasion will be a royal durbar in honour of the Minister and invited dignitaries,” it added.
It would be noted that the the turbaning of Amaechi in the north might signify support for his presidential ambition come 2023.
