Former Governor of Rivers state and Presidential hopeful, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s homecoming ceremony has been threatened following the burning down of the African Democratic Congress(ADC) office in Ubima town, by suspected political thugs allegedly loyal to his arch-rival , Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Residents said the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, just hours before Amaechi was expected to arrive the town for his official membership registration with the party at the ward.

According to sources in the community, the assailants stormed the ADC ward office in Ubima and set the building on fire, destroying party materials and other items inside the facility.

“Thugs loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike burnt down ADC ward office in Ubima, the home town of Rotimi Amaechi early Friday morning,” a resident said.

No casualties were reported as of the time of filing this report.

Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, hails from Ubima in Ikwerre Local Government Area and remains a key political figure in the state.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, were unsuccessful.
