Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has stated that presidential hopeful and former Transportation Minister, Chibuike Amaechi, will ensure that the injustices the Igbos are currently going through under the Tinubu’s administration are addressed fairly and accordingly as President of Nigeria.

Chief Eze stated this while debunking rumours making the rounds that the presidential hopeful has no interest in driving development in the South East region of Nigeria.
In a statement made available to the media, Chief Eze, said he has been inundated with calls and messages from concerned Nigerians from the South East who sought to know his relationship with former Governor Chibuike Amaechi and what plans the former Minister has in the offing for the region as President and the reason for the alleged exclusion of the region from his massive monorail development drive.
“A typical of the messages read: “Chief Eze, we have read your daily bombing of our public space with Amaechi this and Amaechi that, but permit me to ask you, what have you and Amaechi agreed to do for the Igbos? Would he split the country so that Biafra can go? Remember, he never gave us a railway. How would he remedy this? And what do you find in this Amaechi that causes you sleepless nights?” Anonymous.
“This falsehood is hinged on the neglect allegedly suffered by the region in the massive railway infrastructure development drive of the former Minister during the administration of Late President Mohammadu Buhari, where he revived Nigeria’s moribund rail infrastructure and placed the subsector as one of the drivers of the country’s economic stability effort”, Eze stated.
Putting the records straight, the APC chieftain hinted that Amaechi, an igbo son from Rivers, married to an igbo daughter from Anambra making him a full fledged Igbo man and would not have left the South East in his railway revival plan, stressing that the railway re-development agenda was designed to cover every state in the region under the Port Harcourt Maiduguri project which was still ongoing even after he left office.
“The Port Harcourt Maiduguri project is a 1,444 km standard gauge line intended to connect the Eastern region, starting with a focus on the Port Harcourt-Aba section.
As of July 2025, the Nigerian Senate approved a $21 billion loan request from President Tinubu, which includes a specific allocation of $3 billion for the Eastern rail line reconstruction.
Amaechi, had previously explained that delays in the project were due to procurement bottlenecks, funding constraints, and a focus on rehabilitating the old narrow-gauge lines before full modernization and it would be unfair for anyone to say the former Minister left the region behind in his railway development blueprint”, Eze explained.
Indicating how serious and concerned Amaechi feels about the South East railway operations, Eze quoted him as stating thus, “. I just inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri rail line. The contractors are working in different gangs across the line simultaneously. Our first target is to get track-laying from Port Harcourt to Enugu completed, then proceed with the next phase.”. Having stayed with Amaechi for over twenty years by now, I will plead with our brothers in the South East to exercise a little patience that with Amaechi’s Presidency the South East will surely have reason to rejoice and celebrate
The APC chief said, “as President, Amaechi will ensure fair distribution of amenities and benefits to all sections of Nigeria but most importantly he will ensure the injustices the Igbos are currently going through under the Tinubu administration are addressed fairly and accordingly.
“Further, Amaechi will ensure that all entitlements due to the region are given to them and the maltreatment of the Igbos in parts of Nigeria is stopped. Today all sections of this country have extra Ministers only the South East is denied any extra Minister, Amaechi’s administration will not tolerate such.
On splitting the country to allow for secession of any part of the country in using Biafra, Eze noted that the unity of Nigerian will remain Amaechi’s priority, and secession will be an option under extremely compelling circumstance in line with regional, international instruments and laws. But the peace, unity and development of Nigeria remain the Amaechi’s Presidency focus.
