The Special Adviser on Electronic Media to Rivers State Governor, Mr. Omatsogunwa Jerry, has lashed out at the paramount ruler of Barako ancient commnunity in Gokana local government area, HRH (Mene) Kadilo Barina Kabari, for accusing Gov. Siminalayi Fubara of marginalising the Ogoni.
Speaking in an interview with Metronetworknews in Port Harcourt, on Sunday, the Special Adivser opined that HRH Kabari was economical with the truth and might be playing the script of some people with the dubious intention to create mischieve as well as tarnish Gov. Fubara’s reputation in Ogoniland and the entire state.
He maintained that whatever be the plan of the traditional ruler and his cohorts, they will not detract the governor from his focus, dedication and responsibilities.
His words, ”The group saying that Ogoni is being marginalised by the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, is a lie from the pit of hell.
”Marginalisation in what area? As it stands right now, Ogoni has three (3) commissioners. They have Peter Medee (Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning), Sydney Gbara(Commissioner for Environment) and Victor Kii (Commissioner for Agriculture). Ogoni has four local government areas and it has 3 commissioners already. Meanwhile, Khana LGA has two already.
”On projects, the zonal hospital in Bori that has been abandoned for years is taking a top shape and I tell you its a world class. Bori internal roads are ongoing. The old Bori road was started and completed by this governor and someone is accusing him. Just few days ago, the oxygen plant that will supply oxygen to the entire hospitals in Rivers state was commissioned. The Songhai farm is undergoing rehabilitation. So many projects have been taken to Ogoni area. The governor said we will make Ogoni an industrial hub and he is working towards that vigorously. So, I don’t know this idea of marginalisation.
” The person or group that is saying that the governor is marginalising the Ogoni would have tried to compare what the past governor did in 8 years and what this present governor has done in one year plus. The records are very clear. So for me, that accusation is neither here nor there. And I think they need to be patient so that they can get the dividends of democracy and the governor’s plan for the Ogoni people”, he said.
