The Super Falcons of Nigeria arrived in Vienna, Austria yesterday for a training camp ahead of the Aisha Buhari Invitational tournament slated for September in Lagos.
The team touch down in Austria about 6.45 am Nigerian time on Friday and they are expected to commence training.
A total of 26 players made the trip, including new invitees, Evelyn Ijeh, Josephine Ijeh, Fatuga-Dada, while former skipper Desire Oparanozie and Ini-AbasiUmotong made a return to the squad.
Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala is the only notable name missing from the squad.
Nigeria will host the United States of America, Ghana, Morocco, South Africa, and Cameroon for the six-nation tournament that will take place in Lagos in September.
Meanwhile, Striker Desire Oparanozie has been recalled to the Super Falcons after a two-year absence from the training camp in Austria this month.
Oparanozie, who was a captain of the West African nation that reached the knockout stages for the first time in 20 years, last played for her country at the Fifa Women’s World Cup finals in June 2019.
Her alleged role in the team staging a sit-in protest after a 3-0 Round of 16 loss to Germany in France caused her to fall out of favor with the authorities under coach Thomas Dennerby.
However, the return of the 27-year-old striker to the senior women’s national team came on the heels of the pardon from the NFF leadership following her written apology letter to the Nigeria Football Federation.
