A former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has stated that the defection of former Kano state governor and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, portends a bad omen for President Bola Tinubu, whom he said is seeking re-election in 2027, despite plunging Nigerians into abject poverty and untold hardship.
Eze described Kwankwaso as a thorough-bred, grassroot politician and crowd puller who believes in genuine democratic governance.
“By joining the ADC, Kwankwaso has dealt a heavy political uppercut blow to President Tinubu’s re-election bid. This defection, borne out of patriotism and the need to salvage the country from bad governance is a bad omen for Tinubu and his co-travellers.
“Tinubu’s errand boys lobbied, wished and prayed this defection never happened. But Kwankwaso knows the country is bleeding, the citizens are dieing, the living are in dire need of help and the only way to oust Tinubu and his unpopular government is through a coalition movement, Eze stated.
In a statement on Tuesday, Eze commended the parliamentarian for joining the ADC, a party he said is ‘on a mission to rescue Nigerians from clueless, nepotistic, wicked, undemocratic, and despotic government led by President Tinubu’.
Eze described Kwankwaso as a “political tsunami” waiting to blow off Tinubu.
He applauded Kwankwaso “for making the right decision to join the ADC, a party that parades most of Nigeria’s cerebral, strategic, popular and grassroots-oriented politicians as members.
“By joining the likes of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; erstwhile governor of Rivers State, Barr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, former Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi; former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal; former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, etc, Kwankwaso has further placed Tinubu on Aso Rock’s exit corridor, Eze stated.
Eze, formerly the National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) held that voting out an incumbent in Nigeria is not by firing one silver bullet and child’s play, warning against complacency.
“Tinubu has through his abysmal performance in this winding up 4 years, made it easier for ADC, as a viable alternative to take over the mantle of democratic governance in Nigeria. We must not falter.
“As a party on a mission to rescue Nigerians, the ADC cannot afford to waste this glaring opportunity. We must unite ahead of our primaries to face the APC headon. Nigerians have placed hope on ADC, we must rise to the challenge and not disappoint.
“The defection of His Excellency, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso to ADC is highly commendable. With the calibre of arrow heads in the party, no doubt, Nigerians believe ADC is a disciplined mix of coalition-builders, with credibility and electoral value, Eze noted.
Recall that the former Minister of Defence registered with the ADC and received his membership card at Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Bompai, Kano on Monday.
Top members of ADC were present in Kano for Senator Kwankwaso’s official defection to the party.
Among the prominent personalities were former Senate President and ADC National Chairman, David Mark; ADC National Secretary and former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola; former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi; former Sokoto State governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; Senator Dino Melaye; former APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun; and former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha.
