No fewer than 5 persons including a pregnant woman were arrested by security operatives comprising officers from the police and the Nigerian Security and Civic Defence Corp(NSCDC), for operating an illegal vehicle detention centre along Eliozu road in Obio-Akpor local government area of Rivers state.
We gathered that the Chairman of Obio-Akpor local government council, Barr. George Ariolu led the security agents to effect the arrest.
We also gathered that on sighting the chairman and his entourage, some members of the illegal taskforce scaled the fence to avoid being arrested.
We further learnt that the accounts of victims whose vehicles were impounded were taken and their seized vehicles released to them on the directive of the Council chairman.
